I've never bothered about installing any software, neither Logitech's nor any other, as it was never needed. Even after battery changes, that has simply been the invariable result of following Logitech's recommended sequence of "plug-in receiver / switch-on mouse / switch-on keyboard". As i mentioned, my keyboard and mouse have always been recognized by the system and able to be used for UEFI-BIOS setup even before any OS is loaded. 'Fraid I'm left with only guessing based on my own experience.
